Qualified Transportation Expense (QTE) Account(s) maximums increase for 2009

The IRS announced the following increases in tax-free maximums for qualified expenses in a QTE Account(s), effective January 1, 2009:

  • Workplace parking increased to $230 per month ($220 per month for 2008)
  • Workplace mass transit increased to $120 per month ($115 per month for 2008)

 

Change in mileage rate for use of an automobile to obtain medical care

Effective July 1, 2008, the amount allowed by the IRS for reimbursement of eligible services from a Medical FSA / HRA is $0.27/mile. (The amount for eligible services provided from
January 1 - June 30, 2008 remains at $0.19/mile.) The Mileage Certification Log and Claim Form are available on the FSA & HRA Forms page.
