2013-01-11 Increase in Mass Transit and Parking Tax-Free Maximums to $245
Effective January 1, 2013, the IRS increased the maximum tax-free amount allowed for workplace commuting expenses to:
- Mass Transit: $245/month
- Parking: $245/month
2012-12-06 Change in mileage rate for use of an automobile to obtain medical care
Effective January 1, 2013, the amount allowed by the IRS for reimbursement of eligible services from a Medical FSA / HRA / HSA is 24 cents/mile. (The amount for eligible services provided from January 1 - December 31, 2012 is 23 cents/mile.)
2012-11-13 HSA Contribution Amounts for 2013
The maximum amounts that can be contributed to an HSA for 2013, as allowed by the IRS, is:
- For single coverage: $3,250
- For family coverage: $6,450
- Additional catch-up contributions (for those 55 and older): $1,000
