How to Safely Return to Work

This handbook from the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) provides recommendations on how to safely and efficiently return to your workplace as back to work efforts begin across the country.

Using Your Card

The Beniversal® Prepaid Mastercard® and eTRAC® Prepaid Mastercard® provide you with convenient access to your mass transit and parking accounts. Here are a few quick tips to get started:Beniversal Card Mockup

  • Point-of-sale: Your card can be used directly at approved mass transit and parking merchants that accept Debit Mastercard.
  • Link your card to a reloadable mass transit card: If you use a reloadable mass transit card, the Card can be linked to the reloadable card as the funding or payment source.
  • Pay a bill: If you receive a bill for parking services and the approved provider accepts Debit Mastercard, you can provide your card number to initiate payment.

SEPTA Parking

Most parking lots are cash only, so if you are able to pay with your Beniversal or eTRAC card, you can buy a permit or pass.
Purchasing Parking Permits

Permits can be purchased one of two ways:

  • by mail with a monthly Regional Rail TrailPass
  • at select stations on a first-come, first-served basis on the 20th of the prior month if you are also purchasing a monthly TrailPass

Two days prior to the end of the month, commuters who purchase weekly TrailPasses will be able to buy a parking pass.

SEPTA is phasing out the purchase of tickets at kiosks and station ticket offices in favor of the SEPTA Key program.

How to use your Beniversal Prepaid Mastercard or eTRAC Prepaid Mastercard with the new SEPTA Key system:

  1. Obtain a Key Card
  2. Register the Key Card online
  3. Make your Beniversal or eTRAC card the primary method of loading funds

The Key Card account is reloadable and can be used to manage transit passes or transit value in your Travel Wallet.

Paying for Shared Rides

Your Beniversal Prepaid Mastercard / eTRAC Prepaid Mastercard can be used for eligible Shared Rides (previously Lyft Line) services. When using your Card as the payment source, you will be assigned to qualifying vehicles. If you attempt to use it for regular trips, it will be declined.

Please Note: The home address on file in the Lyft app must match your home address on file with BRI.

Pre-Tax Limits and Election Changes

The maximum monthly pre-tax limit for parking and mass transit is set by the IRS each year.

For 2020 (January 1, 2020 and after) the maximum pre-tax monthly amount is $270.

For 2021 (January 1, 2021 and after) the maximum pre-tax monthly amount is $270.

When limits increase, BRI and your employer should automatically adjust your pre-tax and after-tax deductions to reflect the new limits.

NEED TO CHANGE YOUR ELECTION? Follow the process outlined by your employer to make a change to your election. You can expect changes to take effect in 1-2 payroll cycles (depending on your employer’s process).
